Fayetteville Street District

The Fayetteville Street District is where downtown Raleigh's civic, business and cultural life meet along the city's namesake street.

Often called North Carolina's Main Street, Fayetteville Street mixes offices, apartments, restaurants, independent shops and public gathering spaces.

More than 130 businesses line the corridor, covering everything from dining and nightlife to shopping, hotels and everyday services.

Arts and entertainment are a big part of what defines the district. Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts brings touring Broadway shows, concerts and other performances downtown, and the surrounding blocks hold galleries, museums and smaller creative spaces.

Red Hat Amphitheater and the Raleigh Convention Center sit nearby, pulling in seasonal and year-round visitors for concerts, conventions and signature events.

Between all of this, the district counts more than 20 arts and cultural venues. The street stays busy after the workday ends, too. There are more than 60 restaurants and 15 bars and nightlife spots, ranging from coffee shops and longtime Raleigh spots to destination restaurants and cocktail bars.

Independent retailers and boutiques fill in the rest of the street, and with hotels and apartments mixed in, the area doesn't empty out at 5pm.

Starting Friday, September 11th, DRA will shine a spotlight on the Fayetteville Street District as part of Downtown Destinations: a celebration of Downtown Raleigh’s 6 distinct districts and what makes each one unique.

For 2 weeks, DRA and friends will share must-try guides, business features, and pro-tips for experiencing everything this around-the-clock downtown neighborhood has to offer.

Get ready for September 25th because the celebration wraps up with a Downtown Raleigh Gift Card treasure hunt throughout the district.
