New Digital Wayfinding Kiosks are Coming to Downtown Raleigh

Downtown Raleigh Alliance and the City of Raleigh are supporting the deployment of IKE Smart City kiosks in Downtown Raleigh, to enhance the downtown experience with wayfinding elements for residents and visitors alike. The multilingual ADA-compliant digital kiosks activate the pedestrian experience through interactive touchscreens and an engaging suite of applications that support area business, improve mobility, and provide valuable resources and services to the Downtown Raleigh community.

Deployed in over 16 cities across the U.S. like Baltimore, Tampa, Miami, Houston, and Tempe - the intent of the kiosks is to enhance access and increase information to help pedestrians navigate and explore all Downtown Raleigh has to offer. Wayfinding elements incorporated into the kiosks will provide a tool for patrons to navigate through and to each of the unique districts that make up our downtown community.

The kiosks will provide:

  • Wayfinding to nearby local businesses and attractions
  • Mobility information
  • Information on upcoming downtown events and activities
  • Community and social service resources
  • A built in photo booth (say cheese!)
  • General information and community messages
  • A continually evolving suite of applications to serve the needs of residents, employees and visitors alike

The kiosks do not require any money from the City of Raleigh or taxpayers. IKE Smart City delivers and operates all aspects of the program with revenue generated by strictly controlled advertising content.

Kiosks will begin to come online in the fall of 2023, with a total of 15-to-16 kiosks set to be installed throughout Downtown Raleigh in the initial deployment.
