Ambassador of the Month – December 2020: Sean Hulett
The Downtown Raleigh Ambassadors serve to ensure a memorable and welcoming experience for those in our capital city. Our Ambassadors are awarded Ambassador of the Month for exemplary service in community engagement and/or safety assistance. For December, the award went to Sean Hulett, and we asked him about his experience as an Ambassador and what he loves about Downtown Raleigh.
DRA: How long have you been an Ambassador?
SH: I have been a DRA Ambassador for 4 months.
DRA: Why did you decide to pursue this line of work?
SH: Helping people has always been a passion of mine, and I felt like this was the best way to pursue it.
DRA: What do you like most about what you do?
SH: I really love providing hope and assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness.
DRA: Have there been any specific moments that stick out as memorable for you?
SH: One moment that sticks out during my time as an Ambassador is when a woman experiencing homelessness thanked us for all we do. She told me that with our help, she was able to receive the resources she needed.
DRA: You walk all over downtown and so you know it really well. Are there any unknown or underused places that you particularly enjoy?
SH: The spot right past Wye Hill Kitchen on S Boylan Street right before the bridge is my all-time favorite spot in Downtown Raleigh. It’s the best view of Downtown Raleigh in my opinion.
DRA: Do you have a favorite part of downtown you like visiting or working in?
SH: I enjoy walking along Fayetteville St and seeing all the different people coming and going. It makes the city feel alive.
DRA: What do you wish people knew about the Ambassadors?
SH: I want people to know that we are friendly and welcoming and always willing to help.
DRA: Anything else you'd like to add?
SH: If you come to Downtown Raleigh, remember that the local businesses are our heart and soul. They are what makes Downtown so special. They are a joy to have.
Thanks, Sean!
