The historic Oakwood neighborhood is the oldest neighborhood in Raleigh at least partially outside of the downtown. On this tour, you will learn how much of the Oakwood neighborhood was almost destroyed in the 1970s.
We will also discuss the main architectural styles in Oakwood and the stories of the people who built these gorgeous historic homes. You will also see Oakwood's "modern house," which created such a stir in the neighborhood in 2013-14 that the story was reported nationwide.
