Start Your Holiday Shopping in Downtown Raleigh at the Raleigh Christmas Parade

RALEIGH, NC (November 16, 2018) - Families coming to Downtown Raleigh to enjoy the 74th Annual Raleigh Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 17 will have the opportunity to start their holiday shopping early. The Christmas Village Market will be open during the parade until the early afternoon at Market and Exchange plazas located off the 200 block of Fayetteville Street.

Shoppers can browse through the offerings of a dozen vendors as they look for the perfect gift or stocking stuffer. The shopping experience doesn’t stop there, as other local retailers in Downtown Raleigh begin to usher in the holiday season.

“For over 74 years the Raleigh Christmas Parade® has been a gift from Shop Local Raleigh to the community as a way of kicking off the holiday shopping season,” says Sarah Getsinger of Shop Local Raleigh and the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association. “To keep in the spirit of the parade, you can now start your shopping during this annual event by visiting the Christmas Village Market or checking out one of the many great local businesses in Downtown Raleigh.”

A week later on Saturday, November 24, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance will be celebrating Small Business Saturday with local merchants by having a tent located at the corner of Wilmington St. and Hargett St. from 11 am - 2 pm. Shoppers can pick up free Small Business Saturday swag, enter a raffle to win items from local retailers, and learn more about downtown small businesses. Several businesses will have extended hours, treats, and in-store deals.
