RALEIGH, NC (October 6, 2016) – The Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) is proud to announce the awarding of its seventh Retail Upfit Grant to Raleighwood Provisions, a local gourmet food shop and bodega owned by Kim Hammer of Bittersweet Raleigh, coming to downtown later this year. This store joins a wave of new retailers coming to downtown as the holiday season approaches. Since August, nine retailers have either opened or been announced in downtown. These include:
The Art of Style | Opened at 19 W. Hargett Street
Finds | Opened at 520 N. West Street
Gilded Bridal | Opened at 421 N. Boylan Avenue
Glenwood South Pharmacy and Market | Opened at 401 Glenwood Avenue
Deco Home | Opening this week at 19 W. Hargett Street
Emily and Co. | Coming soon to 527 Hillsborough Street
Flourish Market | Coming soon to 713 Tucker Street
Raleighwood Provisions | Coming soon to 107 E. Davie Street
Oak City Market | Coming soon to 308 S. Blount St.
Raleighwood Provisions joins previous Retail Up-fit Grant recipients Glenwood South Pharmacy and Market, Briggs Hardware, Unleashed City Market, Port of Raleigh, Gypsy Jule, and Retro Modern Furnishings. “These new retailers are providing a stronger and more diverse mix of shopping options for downtown residents, workers, and visitors,” said DRA Senior Director of Economic Development Bill King.
The new stores bring new grocery options in Glenwood South Pharmacy and Market, to home décor options, clothing, vintage furniture, bridal wear and new bodegas.
These retailers are also part of a larger growth pattern in downtown Raleigh that includes new restaurants and bars with at least 25 new street-level businesses coming soon. Additionally, nearly $350 million in projects are under construction with $437 million in planning and over $360 million in development already delivered since the beginning of 2015.
