Art Putt Transforms Market Plaza For Final POP!

RALEIGH, NC (December 29, 2016) – The Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA), in keeping with one of its strategic goals to bring to life public spaces through high quality events, has teamed up with First Night Raleigh event producers to transform Market Plaza, located between 227 and 239 Fayetteville Street.

One of the most popular features at last year's First Night event, Art Putt is a nine-hole miniature golf course with each hole creatively designed by local artists using a vast variety of mediums. Art Putt will be open in Market Plaza from 2 pm - 11 pm on Saturday, December 31 for First Night, but event producers collaborated with DRA so the public can get in an early round on Friday, December 30 starting at 2 pm.

“Putt your way around everything from graffiti artwork to an underwater seascape and Krispy Kreme donuts! It’s fun for the whole family, and we can’t wait to see this installation enliven this new space in downtown Raleigh,” says Cameron Laws, Marketing Director for First Night.

Mini golfers play for free with a First Night wristband on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday only, a round costs $5. Patrons who mention POP! will receive a $1 discount bringing the total to just $4.

“We’re excited about it,” says DRA Director of Events, Craig Reed. “This is the type of event we envisioned for our plazas in downtown when the POP! program started.  It’s interactive, fun, and turns our plazas into more than just a walking path between Wilmington and Fayetteville Streets.”
