This mural design was created using only digital painting techniques and the intention was to convey the beauty and tranquility of diversity we are privileged to experience in a vibrant and whimsical representation. The ocean, or life in general, wouldn’t be as intriguing without the millions of contrasting colors, peculiar characters, and eccentric life-giving vegetation. This mural is meant to remind the viewer to embrace the interesting backgrounds, cultures and kaleidoscope of races around them.

Raquel Assanoua is a self-taught multimedia artist from Miami, Florida now living in Raleigh, North Carolina since 2016. She has a multicultural background of Panamanian heritage and was born in Africa.
