Pop culture—music, movies, TV shows—is intimately intertwined with many of our lives. In this four-week class, Rachel Simon will lead students into the intimate and compelling world of personal essays that specifically draw on our experiences with the culture that shapes us. In this course, you’ll learn about diving through memories, honing your narrative voice, and crafting powerful and thought-provoking pieces, as well as read published examples of expert essays that speak to the culture of our time. The course will also discuss marketing and selling essays, and will feature writing exercises, Q&As, and more.
