It's time for WRAL First Night Raleigh 2020, the city's go-to destination on December 31, 2019! Illiterate Light, Caleb Johnson, and Boom Unit Brass Band bring us into the New Year with the Acorn Drop at midnight!
The day's festivities fill venues from museum lobbies to church sanctuaries to street corners across more than 20 blocks of Downtown Raleigh on New Year's Eve, offering entertainment for all ages in a festive setting.
Festivities begin at 2:00 pmwith the Children's Celebration located throughout the North Carolina Museum of History, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and Bicentennial Plaza. Adults and children alike can learn new skills for the New Year and see demonstrations from local artists and performers.
The Evening Celebration comes alive after Barefoot Movement hosts the 7:00 pm Early Countdown as Downtown Raleigh fills with art, music, comedy, theatre, and more at indoor and outdoor venues all over town.
Head to Moore Square to experience the larger-than-life illuminated Astro Botanicals Garden of Light from 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Ride the Fantastical Ferris Wheel, the Alien Abduction Gravitron, or hop aboard a Gold Leaf sleigh ride!
Your pass gets you access to exclusive indoor performances across venues in downtown Raleigh from artists such as: Violet Bell, ComedyWorx, The Honey Dewdrops and Shay Martin Lovette brought to you by PineCone - Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, Music Maker Relief Foundation's Willie Farmer, Transactors Improv Company, Bradley Burgess Music, North Carolina Opera, Cashore Marionettes, and The Connection Place Choir, Bebop Blues & All That Jazz, African American Dance Ensemble, Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, Brien Engel Glass Harp, The Dynamo Dogs and programming from the North Carolina Book Festival.
