Details
Small School presents a workshop + discussion with visiting artist Alan Sonfist.
Participants will assist Alan in assembling “Burning Forest of North Carolina” sculptures, intended to represent the dramatic temperature changes occurring worldwide. These unique environmental sculptures - which will be on loan to various Raleigh organizations and businesses - highlight the global climate crisis, with forests around the world catching fire due to radical temperature shifts. The burning trees, collected locally from North Carolina Forest Service District 3, symbolize this universal phenomenon. Alan will discuss his extensive experience as an artist addressing environmental issues over the course of his career..
