Current Wellness, in collaboration with Ivy & Oak will be hosting the FEDUP Collective on November 1st, 2024 at 219 S East St. Raleigh NC for a collaborative workshop focusing on the fundamentals of care for transgender, gender diverse, and intersex clients.

The FEDUP Collective is a trans and intersex collective that aims to make visible, interrupt, and disrupt the disproportionately high incidence of eating disorders in the community, as well as the discrimination within the eating disorder care system, through radical community healing, recovery institution reform, research, empowerment and education.

About:

This workshop will provide an open space to learn, unpack, and engage with the ways in which the mental health and physical health care system systemically pathologize trans and intersex bodies, and discuss the discomforts, questions, and mistakes these lead to for providers. We will cover what fits and does not fit into the specific roles, expectations, and responsibilities of providers . This will be followed by concrete elemental guidance on medical gender affirming care, body dysphoria, and eating disorders, and how to navigate these in the care space. Attendees can expect to leave this workshop with new, specific, and engaging knowledge on how to provide affirming, respectful, and appropriate care.

This training is for cisgender providers that feel like they cannot properly serve trans communities. We will address discomfort around new topics and how to manage complex conversations at the intersection of identity, body image, and eating.
