Pat Scull is our guest artist. She stats about these paintings and sculptures;
These recent work comes from a visit to the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences a few years ago. With the pandemic changing human activities and behaviors world-wide, I thought about this invisible virus that was floating around the earth and inside us. ​​​With the fact that viruses have been on earth before humans ever evolved, I used photos I had taken from museum exhibits of fossils, crystals, dinosaurs bones, insects and other unusual creatures. I then created paintings and sculptures emphasizing the sense of helplessness and foreboding that we all have been experiencing from something that is neither alive nor dead but ancient and now permanently fixed in our collective human psyche.
