Details
Participate in Speech + Stitch sessions with Artspace Universal Access Artist in Residence Jimena Vergara-Sanz. We will address themes of femininity, bodily autonomy, and healing.
Artistic expression is a powerful way to talk about the untalkable. At each session, there will be cotton tissues printed with menstrual blood marks from multiple people that we will then embellish through embroidery. With our embroidery and embellished works, we will create a visual narrative that challenges societal taboos and encourages reflection on the power of collective healing. Through communication, we heal and resignification takes place.
Please note, no actual blood will be used in these projects. We will be working with reproduced, printed images.
