Come learn about cyclic living which is organizing our lives, activities, and rest around natural cycles that we find within our bodies and around us in nature. This is one of my favorite antidotes to hustle culture, burnout, constant need for productivity, overwhelm, and exhaustion! This will be part presentation and partly time for you to journal and share reflections.
The cycles I am going to focus on are the menstrual cycle, the lunar (moon) cycle, and the seasons of the year. I will lean more heavily on lunar and seasons to ensure this is applicable to everyone. All are welcome, it does not matter if you have a menstrual cycle or not because we all have cycles we can tune into!
Each part of every cycle you will find is more aligned with certain energy levels and activities so when we tune into that and live more in tune with this natural flow, we can feel more at ease and restful. Cyclic living helps give ourselves permission to rest (not that we ever truly needed it!) and helps us see there are times for action and times for slowing down. A perfect example is feeling an urge to rest and do more quiet activities in the winter rather than doing ALL the things (especially around the holidays and winter celebrations). This is a great way of thinking for folks who tend to have go-go-go mindset, feel drained, burnt out, and overwhelmed.
Most importantly, cyclic living is tuning into your own cycles and how they impact you. Then you can use that information to proactively plan your weeks and months which will help you feel more aligned, reserve energy, and build trust in yourself and what it is you need. It is a wonderful practice to reconnect your mind and body and truly tune in to what your body intuitively is telling you.
We will have seating for everyone, however they are folding chairs so bring anything that may make you more comfortable.
I will have a warm herbal beverage to share so please bring a mug if you’d like to have some, if not we will provide a cup. You can also bring water or other beverages. There is a restroom on site and a place for you to re-fill your water bottle.
Parking is available for free on the street and there are some spots in the lot right outside Current Wellness.
I will provide any slides I use electronically after the session but feel free to bring something to take notes on. I likely will have some worksheet handouts as well during the session.
