The works of Ambiorix Santos
Ambiorix Santos is a painter raised and trained in The Dominican Republic. His work is created from the experiences and objects that surround him on a daily basis. Santos says of his art “it is rooted in and evolves from my sense of wonder, and the desire to add simple yet profound dimension to the world around me. I look to bring life to the ineffable by developing new spaces, structures, and visual possibilities”.
Santos seeks to integrate form and light in in his paintings in order to establish a dialogue between the physical and the possible. His work provides closer reflection on the marks left by the consequences of his actions. He looks to spark life into these inert materials, and discover their secrets, by reviving the collective memory they contain.
