Flash fiction—that is, stories generally under 1000 words—is an exciting and dynamic genre. Every week, we’ll read three pieces of flash fiction, dissect how the pieces are crafted, and use these techniques in our own flash writing through in class exercises and prompts. This shorter, 1.5 hour, four-week class is ideal for students who are interested in trying their hand at shorter pieces or those who want to keep exploring the art of flash, but have a busy schedule. The class is genre-inclusive: nonfiction and fiction welcome!

Please note that this is not a workshop class, although students will have the opportunity to receive feedback during in-class sharing. If you’ve taken Flash Fiction with Redbud before, please note that this class will feature all new reading material, so you are welcome to join again!
