Join us for a Juneteenth celebration this First Friday at the Current! Sip some mocktails while listening to our live spoken word performances by our opening act Jay Knowles followed by FlowEssence.

Shaun Harris (FlowEssence) is a poet/writer from Raleigh, North Carolina. He is the co-writer of this year’s M.A.NiFest production, “Freedom to What?” Since graduating from North Carolina A&T State University, he has gone on to pursue his passions for art, poetry, and music by performing Hip Hop and Spoken Word at live events across the triangle, as well as publishing his first novel titled “Senseless Time.” His accolades include his work published in the book “Black Lives Have Always Mattered,” Freestyle Friday champion for 5 weeks on K97.5 with host Mr. Showtime, and featured in the critically acclaimed film titled “ Kings: Heavy is the Crown”. He continues to pursue his passion for art, music, and poetry through weekly performances across North Carolina and as an author.

First Friday kicks off at 5:30pm, poetry reading begins at 6:30 pm.
