Mark Your Calendar for a FUN-tastic First Friday Winemaker Tasting to Support Frankie Lemmon
Winemaker Matt Nagy, Benevolent Neglect, will be at DRINK from 4:30 to 6:30 to Sip, Sign and Support the Frankie Lemmon School and Development Center as part of the 30th Anniversary of the Triangle Wine Experience.
DRINK is excited to welcome our friend, Matt, from Benevolent Neglect to discuss his wines - technical aspects and what music pairs with it... (Follow them on Instagram to see the trend).
If you have ever held one of their bottles in your hands, you will understand why they are a perfect fit for 1st Friday - the Labels are works of art, as are the wines in the bottle.
If you are not familiar with Benevolent Neglect here is a little info on the guys and their wines. Minimal intervention is likely the best way to describe Matt and Ben’s winemaking style. The idea of the winemaker as the reliable translator - to take what was made in the vineyard from sun, water, and soil and let it become the finest wine that it can be. They use very little new oak, no oak substitutes, and no industrial additives. All of BN’s red wines are unfined and unfiltered, with some whites getting filtered simply to ensure stability in bottle for the consumer.
Belief in transparent winemaking, doing things the natural way, and being open to experimentation is the driving force behind their style. Most importantly, Ben and Matt want to keep having fun with what they do in the cellar.
Keep your eyes open because you never know what other winemaker may decide to stop by and share a glass or two with you at this event
