Random ˈ/randəm/ (adjective) 1: lacking definite plan, purpose, or pattern. 2: (informal) odd, unusual, or unexpected.
Whether it be "happy little accidents" from the unpredictability of the materials, or intentionally presenting work that's jarringly out of context, artists often teeter on the line between control and chaos, challenging expectation. As artists, we have a unique opportunity to harness randomness as a tool for creativity, exploration, and expression.
For the month of July we're diving into art that contemplates, expresses, or invokes the concept of randomness. Come see random acts of art, acts of random art, or other unexpected things.
We'll also have a collaborative painting set up for you to contribute your own random things to. Come paint with us!
There's also the amazing Five Dollar Sketch Wall- a novel way to build your art collection (even if you're broke) and help support CoLab at the same time, thanks to generous donations from our artists!
