All art is cathartic, but this show explores the profound emotional release and healing that art can provide to us all.
Creating art is an amazing way to understand the thoughts and emotions that swirl around inside us, releasing them into the world and helping other people to connect with their own experiences. For the months of September and October, CoLab is exploring the profound emotional release and healing that art can provide with the exhibition "CathARTic". While we believe all art is cathartic, this show features work that expresses intense emotion. Moments of joy and sublime contentment, sorrow and frustration, or intangible feelings that needed to surface. This is a two month show, all work will be hanging from September through the end of October.
CoLab is also helping to raise money for NAMI in this show! NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a great organization that helps advocate on behalf of those affected by mental illness. Their mission is to provide support, education, and public awareness so that all individuals, families, and communities facing mental health challenges can live better lives. CoLab thinks this is a great idea, so we're giving 100% of our sketch wall donations to NAMI. We're also offering the chance for artists to help NAMI too by opting to donate 50% of their art sales in this show to NAMI. Each piece that opts for NAMI donations will be tagged with a little sign that reads "50% of the sale price of this piece goes to NAMI".
After being inspired by the show, we’ll have a collaborative painting set up for you to experience your own cathARTic moment. Come paint with us!
The Carter Building will be hopping Friday! While you're here, visit our awesome neighbors throughout the building!
