So & So Books has become an official VAE Raleigh venue, and Friday May 6 will be the opening of our first show, Jenny Eggleston's State of the Union. There will be live music, poetry, and a panel moderated by VAE Raleigh's Director of Exhibitions, Ant M Lobo.

Ina Cariño is a 2022 Whiting Award winner who holds an MFA in creative writing from North Carolina State University. Their poetry appears in Guernica, Poetry Northwest, Poetry Magazine, The Paris Review Daily, Waxwing, New England Review, and elsewhere. Ina is a Kundiman fellow and a recipient of a fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center. She is the winner of the 2021 Alice James Award for Feast, forthcoming from Alice James Books in March 2023. In 2021, Ina was selected as one of four winners of the 92Y Discovery Poetry Contest. In 2019, Ina founded a reading series, Indigena Collective, centering marginalized creatives in the community.

James Davy is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Raleigh, NC. After spending years on the road, he now lives in a barn in Chatham County with his partner, 3 cats, and an old guitar named Jewel. James is currently writing and performing songs in prep for his solo debut America the Broken – slated for release in the Fall of 2022.

Jenny Eggleston is a visual artist, poet, and teacher. Her work has been shown at the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro, the Muscarelle Museum of Art in Williamsburg, and most recently at the Rubenstein Arts Center at Duke University. She is the owner of Egg in Nest Art Studio, a private art studio providing instruction in drawing, painting, and art appreciation. Her recent work responds to concrete scenes of shame, silencing, and taboo. She is an advocate for reproductive justice, full dismantling of rape culture, and equitable health care for all.
