You know those days when it’s so hot and humid you can’t imagine pulling a cutting board and knife out, much less turning on the stove or oven? Yeah, us too… That’s why we want to help your summer meal planning possibilities with some refreshing-yet-satisfying Asian-style dishes.
In this class, you’ll learn to make Vietnamese-style summer rolls, which are a quick option using whatever you have in the pantry or fridge to put together (we’ll be making them with fresh herbs, bean sprouts, vermicelli rice noodles, and other fillings). Then, we’ll pull out our mortars and pestles to make Thai-style papaya salad, a citrus-y and spicy dish (choose your heat level!) that can also be used with a variety of veggies and herbs that are in season in North Carolina this summer.
Along the way, we’ll highlight savory snacks that can be purchased at most local Asian grocery stores to make appetizers even easier. This class is taught by our co-owner (and Southeast Asian food-obsessed), Nathan Williams, who will share photos and stories from his Thailand travels while guiding you through preparing these tasty dishes. You’re welcome to bring your own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages; there’s also beverages available for purchase at the Current or next door at Roshambo Beverage Company.
Cost: $75 per person (or $140 per couple) – Members, you get 20% off on a single ticket!
