In this introductory overview class, we will explore the basics of the different creative writing forms: fiction (both short stories and novels), creative nonfiction (memoir and personal essay), and poetry. Through a series of readings, in-class writing exercises, and discussions, students will have the opportunity to try their hand at all these types of writing. This class is ideal for beginners who have little to no experience in creative writing and want to learn more about all the different possibilities within this art form. Please note that this is not a workshop class, although students will have the opportunity to receive feedback during in-class sharing.
